Plan Comparisons

Head & Neck

A treatment plan for head and neck cancer using RapidArc delivery. RapidArc achieves treatment objectives better than today's best IMRT techniques.
Comparison of a 7-field sliding window IMRT plan and a single-field RapidArc plan for a head and neck case. The IMRT plan requires 1685 MU while the RapidArc plan only requires 496 MU. The RapidArc plan is delivered in less than 90 seconds.

This head and neck comparison case demonstrates how effectively RapidArc improves the clinician's ability to deliver dose to the target while minimizing dose to surrounding tissues, in this case the cervical spine cord.

Prostate

The clinician's plan goals were achieved with RapidArc radiotherapy technology. IMRT-like PTV coverage and OAR sparing were preserved while reducing MU by 30% and treatment time by 70%.

Comparison of a 5-field sliding window IMRT plan and a single-field RapidArc plan for a low risk prostate case. The IMRT plan requires 719 MU while the RapidArc plan only requires 589 MU.

Spine

Comparison of an 11-field sliding window IMRT plan and a single-field RapidArc plan for a spine case. The IMRT plan requires 3072 MU while the RapidArc plan only requires 2174 MU. Both plans are for five fractions of 5 Gy and use the HD120 MLC. The RapidArc plan has better target coverage and lower cord dose.

Lung

RapidArc radiotherapy technology reduces the spinal cord dose by 30% and the mean dose to the left lung by half while keeping the same PTV coverage.
